Darkscribe says there will be an event on the 6th of this month:

Happy birthday to us! Ultima Online is nine years old, nine history-filled years. This game has defied expectations, pioneered new ideas, and built one of the most devoted, passionate communities in the MMORPG universe. To celebrate, a character from the Ultima single-player games will be making her first true visit to the worlds within the shards. That event begins October 6th (PDT). If you are a fan of Britannian history, you are in for a treat.

The Ultima Online 9th Anniversary pack, aka Eve of a New Age, is scheduled to launch at the end of the month, October 31st.

Note from Smith: I can’t find the posting now - it was either locked or moved, but the devs indicated on Stratics that we might have a special Halloween shard again this year.

Scenario Notes:

Right now we are still in the midst of a year-long (minimum) scenario that will presumably lead us into Ultima Online: Kingdom Reborn, which is, as you know, a complete overhaul of the UO Client (3D acceleration with fancy graphics) and artwork (9000+ pieces of art are being transformed) while still allowing current 2D users to stay with their client of choice. Note: The scenario apparently has quieted down a bit, while they celebrate the 9th Anniversary and work on the 9th Anniversary release.
