New Players - A Guide
The Official New Player Guide at UO.com
Okay, there’s not much as of September 3rd, but we do plan on extending this quite a bit, once we have other areas of the site cleaned up.
First - the title is misleading. What we are really doing is an Intermediate Player’s Guide.
We want to give new players a sense of UO’s history, as well as present some of the more entertaining/long-term things to do in UO. As we work on this over the next few weeks, what we plan on is a guide that takes over where other sites’ new player guides leave off. If we can get enough players to participate in-game, what we would like to do is give historical tours of UO - where certain things occurred, when, who, why, etc.
Even if we just screenshot various areas, or show screenshots of various areas/events, that will be more than most other sites do.
Right now, a new player coming in, is not going to know 95% of what all has happened in the past nine years. We hope to correct that by filling in the background.
Some advice for new players:
- Take advantage of some of these third party utilities. All are approved by Electronic Arts for UO, and both are extremely helpful - especially UO AutoMap, which can help you figure out where you are at much better than the in-game “radar”.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Most UO players are friendly and always willing to help new players out.
