Developers:
>> UO: Mondain’s Legacy Development Team
Notes:
- First UO expansion available completly online, download and all.
- Added first non-human playable race, Elves.
- Introduction of race-specific abilities and items.
- Added Elven city (accessed in Yew).
- Start of a major overhaul of the artwork.
- Brand new quest system/engine - the new quest system has literally 100s of quests (including ones to change your race from human to elves).
- Many of the current developers (Summer of 2006) started with UO:ML
- Added Cooperative Collections allow players to donate gold and other resources towards various group efforts, such as supporting the Britain Public Library or maintaining the Britannia Royal Zoo in Moonglow. Cooperative Collections allow individuals to donate and earn rewards based on their direct participation towards the group effort, adding a new way to obtain exclusive decorative and functional items. Covers Zoo, Museum, Library
- Added many new items that could be crafted - alchemists got a boost, bowyers, carpenters, smiths, tailors, even cartography, fishing, inscription, and cooking. Lumberjacks benefitted as well, with a colored wood system, similar to the colored ores already present. Masonry and tinkering had new items added as well. Mining - a new system of rare gems was added (random on when you mine them up). Many of these worked together with other skills - tinkers needed the gems, bowyers needed the new woods, etc.
- First expansion to be available only online, either download or order the CD - you could not purchase this in stores. From EA’s point of view, it meant more money for them since no middleman. The downside, not as easy to obtain for some.
- A bump in price to $29.95.
- New skill - Spellweaving - Spellweaving is a new skill of magic that allows an arcanist (the official title of a spellweaver) to summon powerful forces of nature and manifest them into various spell effects. Channeling such power is often done in concert with other arcanists. Such cooperative casting allows for arcanists to weave titanic magic that would otherwise be impossible for a mortal to command.
- New dungeons - Palace of Paroxysmus (The Lost Lands - 7° 59′ North 24° 53′ West), Twisted Weald (Ilshenar - 13° 32′ North 8° 55′ East), Blighted Grove (Trammel/Felucca - 1° 34′ South 52° 6′ West), Bedlam (Malas - 21° 53′ North 53° 9′), Prism of Light (Felucca/Trammel - 45° 52′ North 173° 27′ East), The Citadel (Tokuno - 75° 14′ North 1° 49′ East), Painted Caves (Felucca/Trammel - 120° 29′ South 27° 29′ East), Labyrinth (Malas - 56° 36′ North 28° 37′ East), Sanctuary (Felucca/Trammel - 0° 58′ North 37° 3′ West).
- New house tiles, including Elf-oriented tiles.
- New items for all players - Parrots (?), Ferrets, Squirrels, and Aquariums. Yes, no longer do you need to tie up 100s of items of your precious house storage with all kinds of dyed items, you now have a full-blown aquarium, complete with all kinds of fish and items. The downside, you must maintain your aquarium. Yes, clean water and well-fed fish.
- Container labeling. For those with too many containers, here’s your expansion.
- House storage upgrade - 20% increase for UO: ML enabled accounts.
- Quivers for Archers, easing the load of their arrows and hey, some look cool.
- Crafting: Recipe Scrolls added, quests added, ability to craft artifact-level items.
- Equipment slot: Added for Talisman object
- PVM - Peerless boss encounters.
- Last UO that Chris “Binky” Launius was associated with.
