Will Lord British Appear in Other Games?
- Richard Garriott Interview GameSpy, May 24, 2002

I mean after my Tabula Rasa game I might do a Lands of Lord British game … now I’m speculating here, I have no idea! Some day in the future I might create a more custom home for Lord British myself, but for right now I’m really enjoying Lord British’s role in Lineage. The history of Lineage and the history of the Ultimas are very similar, it’s a natural place for that character to exist. But honestly, we haven’t discussed that yet.

Notable Quotes:
GameSpy Interview, May 7, 2004

“The first few Ultimas were all pretty generic when it comes to storyline and the world in which the games were set.”

“In fact, if you look at those early games, most of the elements in them are pretty much stolen from whatever was popular at the time.”

“The true development of Britannia was actually a process of taking stuff out, not putting stuff in - making sure that the world hung together as a cohesive whole.”

“We had absolutely no idea what we were doing when it came to Ultima Online.”

“Ultima Online was kind of a red-headed stepchild during its development.” “Everyone at EA was focused on Ultima IX which was seen as more of a sure thing. Nobody at EA really understood what Ultima Online was all about.”

GameSpy: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen a fan do?

Richard Garriott: Well… there are these 2 great folks I know, who child’s middle name is Dupre’! ;) Or… How about the fan who broke into my house at 3:30 am the night that the comet hit Jupiter, whom I ended up shooting a warning shot at in my house at a range of 5 feet, went to jail, and a couple years later, jumped into Shamu’s tank at Florida Sea World and died of hypothermia.
